Text: Essential Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 2nd edition by James Stewart, Cengage Publishing. We will cover chapters 10-12 and the first half of chapter 13.
Homework: Assignments for the entire semester are listed on this homework sheet. Optional online homework can be done through WebAssign. You can use the class key: syr 8840 7555 to enroll in this section: MAT397.M001.
Quizzes: Weekly quizzes based on the homework assignments will be given during recitations.
Midterm Exams: Midterm exams will be given in recitations on 2/15, 3/28, and 4/18. There will be no make-up exams or quizzes.
Final Exam: The final exam covers the entire course. It is a two-hour exam and will be given on Monday, May 9, between 8:00 AM and 2:30 PM. The exact time and location of your final examination will be announced.
Grades: Each of the midterm exams counts for 20% of your course grade. The final exam counts for 25%, with the remaining 15% coming from quizzes.
Calculators: A calculator may be useful or needed at times for some homework problems. However, calculators will not be allowed on quizzes or exams. This includes calculators on cell phones. All electronic devices other than the calculator should be silenced and put away during class.
